Gate Concept
Both Gate Systems are a modular design and comprise of one or
two gates dependant on whether pedestrian or vehicular access is
required, attached to a series of posts. Modular panels are then
fitted either side to complete the secure opening.
A 1 piece gate for vehicular access has an infinite number of
problems when over 2 metres in width, particularly with sagging
and the consequential difficulty in locking. Hence we have
adopted the 2 section gate for strength and reliability
Ease of Use
Both Alleygate Systems have been designed for ease of use and
minimum maintenance. Hence our Single / Double Gate principle
eliminates all of the problems of a large single gate. The
Standard Single Gate is overall including posts 1300 mms;
whereas the Double Vehicle gates are 2800 mm overall including
posts. These have proved to be the most popular Alleygate sizes.
Other sizes can be made to Special Order at additional cost.
The overall heights of our gate including the roller are 2300
mm, but when fitted 100 mm off the ground, provide an overall
height of 2400 mms.
Both gates are manufactured from tubular steel, which provides
maximum strength for the gate, from a relatively lightweight
construction. They incorporate the latest design which is not
only aesthetically pleasing but also very robust.
Aesthetics
The Warwick Plus is a typically “Wrought Iron” design of
Allegate, whereas the Victorian has been given some Victorian
refinements to match designs used during that era. The Victorian
is probably the most attractive Alley Gate System on the market
today.
The “Wrought Iron” design provides 90% visibility to the user,
as well as providing an extremely aesthetically appealing
product. The Gates have been carefully designed to prevent
climbing - the fate of too many Alleygate designs, rendering
them useless.
The Tubular Steel construction means there are no sharp edges,
instead aesthetically pleasing rounded edges.
We attach Photographs of each design of Alleygate. If you
require more detailed information please let us know so that we
can get this to you.
Accreditation
The Warwick Plus Alleygate has passed the Sold Secure Security
Test Standard and has Secured by Design Status. A copy of the
Certificate is available if required.
The Victorian Gate is a new design of Gate based upon the
Warwick Plus Alleygate, but with added features to make it more
aesthetically pleasing. However, the Victorian has not yet been
tested.
Gate and Fence Materials
Both the Gate and matching Side Panel frames are manufactured
from 50mm x 50mm tubular steel. The Warwick Plus has a wall
thickness of 2mm whereas the Victorian is 1.6 mm.
The infill palings for the Warwick Plus are constructed from
38mm x 38mm x 1.6 mm tubular steel, with the Victorian being
25mm x 25mm x 1.6mm.
The welding process and qualification is in accordance with
BS4871,BS4872,EN287 & EN288.
As standard, on top of the Warwick Plus we will fit a 40mm Symo
Spike, and on the Victorian we will fit Nylon Victorian spears.
Finish
The Pre-Treatment process involves a Hot Alkaline wash to remove
any oils and then being dipped into hot baths of acid to
“de-scale” the sections. From here the sections are treated in
tanks of hot flux to promote adhesion of the molten zinc during
the hot dip Galvanising process of the sections, to ensure that
the metal is fully protected to prevent rust.
Once these processes have been completed in accordance to the
ISO9001:2000 specifications, the sections are Epoxy coated in
the Standard colour of Black or Charcoal with a ripple finish,
to provide a hard wearing finish to the Gates. The same finish
will be applied to all other components such as hinges and
brackets.
Gate Posts
Double Gate Posts are manufactured from 100 mm x100 mm x 3 mm
box section. The Fence posts are either 100 mm x 100 mm, or 50
mm x 50 mm. The Gate and Fencing Posts will be fully Hot Dipped
Galvanised prior to painting and will be capped to prevent the
ingress of rainwater.
Lock Case Design
The lock assembly is encased within the box section sub frame to
limit exposure to vandal attack.
Further protection is afforded to the locking mechanism by the
use of 5mm full length lock protection plates that cover the
whole lock. The Gate hinges, are manufactured using heavy duty
Bullet hinges and adjustable threaded bar.
Health & Safety Issues
1 By producing the Gates and Frames from square tubular steel,
provides edges that are not only neat, but also do not present a
Health and Safety issue to the users of the gate.
2 The Disability Discrimination Act came into force in 2004. We
have designed our gates to be a relatively light gate, but with
maximum strength. This can also help alleviate expensive
personal injury claims.
3 Panels and Gate are designed with 90% visibility, which will
make it safe for the Disabled and Elderly to be able to see any
possible problems, prior to opening the gate.
Annual Maintenance
The Annual Maintenance needed would consist of the following:
1 Check operation of the lock and associated mechanisms. Where
necessary carry out repairs, lubricate and leave in good working
order.
2 Check and adjust where necessary, the operation of the Gates
for optimum operational performance and ease of use. Lubricate
where necessary.
3 Check all Nylon and Brass washers. Replace where necessary.
4 Check all Steelwork for any damage beyond the Galvanising,
thoroughly clean the area, re-treat, and Paint over where
appropriate.
5 Check all fasteners, torque etc. Any wear or damage, they
would need to be replaced.
