THE
RESULT; Able to pick up 7 Laptops from a Classroom,
jump back out of the window, go 150 metres across a
Playground and scale this 2.4 metre high fence and away
before the Police arrived within 4 minutes of the alarm
being activated.
NOTE:
The School thought when they bought a good quality fence
2. 4 metres high that they were completely secure. In
fact, Burglaries were still taking place, but now by
scaling the new fence. This meant the School would have
to spend even more money, having Razor Wire coiled
around the top of the fence – all around the School. A
very sad situation for a School, that now looked more
like an army camp.
Even this Razor Wire did not stop the thieves – they
simply cut a section of the Razor Wire out, allowing
them to get over the fence and back. Every time it was
replaced they came back and cut a different section of
Razor Wire out. So money wasted.
The most difficult fencing to climb is 358. This is a
wire mesh type utilising 3 mm thick wire very closely
spaced – preventing any grip to be able to climb. This
is a very heavy fence as a result but the only one
graded as High Security. It is also very expensive.
All other fences are Low to Medium Security and will
provide a lesser or greater amount of security BUT
coupled with the “Climabability” aspect reduce its
overall effectiveness considerably for a School.
